Lake Forest Comes Up Big in Season Opener

With a goal and an assist, graduate student Hiwa Brown led the Lake Forest women's soccer team to a 4-0 shutout at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Thursday.

The game winning goal for the Foresters came in the 18th minute of play. Brown assisted freshman Anna Hoffman on her first career goal to put Lake Forest up 1-0 in the first half.

The Foresters scored three more goals in the second half to secure their win and the shutout. Brown scored her goal off a penalty kick at 64:39. Freshman Anna Gracia scored her first Forester goal at 76:39; just over a minute later, junior Ella Manthey put up the team's fourth and final goal.

Lake Forest out shot Wisconsin Lutheran 27 to 5, with 12 of them on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Maggie Kersting had four saves on the day.

The Foresters travel to Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday. The game starts at 1 p.m.
