Lake Forest Drop Game Against Knox in Double Overtime

A goal by junior Paityn Tabor was enough to tie up the score early in the second half but was not enough to pull out the win as Lake Forest women's soccer fell to Knox College 2-1 on Saturday.

Tabor's goal came at the 46:05 off an assist from junior Alyssa Xanos and tied the score 1-1. It was Tabor's second goal of the season.

The score remained even at the end of regulation and through the first overtime. There was just under a minute left in play in the second overtime when Knox was able to put one past Forester goalkeeper Maggie Kersting, ending the game 2-1. The win for Knox College also solidifies them as the Midwest Conference Champions.

The game was a battle and both teams went back and forth for most of it. They were nearly even in shots with the Prairie Fire edging out the Foresters 16-14; Knox had eight shots on goal to the Foresters seven. Both goalies had six saves a piece on the day.

The Foresters are now 5-1-1 in league play and 8-5-1 on the season. The Prairie Fire stands at 7-0 in Conference play and 9-6-1 overall.

Lake Forest plays again at home against Concordia Univeristy Wisconsin on Tuesday, October 26 at 4:00 p.m.
