Lake Forest women's soccer got out to an early lead with a goal by senior Julia Larson in their game against Illinois College on Saturday. The Foresters won 4-0.

Larson's goal came unassisted at the 12:53 mark and would ultimately be the game-winner.

The second goal of the game came right before the end of the second half. Senior Alyssa Xanos was set up by a kick from freshman Arianna Panza, and Xanos found herself in the middle of the field in front of the net where she kicked a rocket right to the goalie, who tipped the ball but not enough to block the shot. The Foresters were up 2-0 at half.

In the last 45 minutes of play, the Foresters scored twice more. Once off a shot by junior Paityn Tabor; Xanos earned an assist on the goal.

Finally, the last goal of the game came off the foot of sophomore Madeline Moser off a cross pass from sophomore Katherine Petticolas. Moser was able to make the shot despite being heavily defended.

The goals for Tabor and Moser were their firsts of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Maggie Kersting earned her eighth career shut-out. She has now not allowed a goal for 456 minutes and 35 seconds of play.

The Foresters improved their overall record to 7-4-1 and 4-0-1 in the Midwest Conference. Illinois College now sits at 2-10 and 0-3 in league play.

Lake Forest plays next at Carroll University on Wednesday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m.
