Foresters Roll Over Ripon on the Road

Sophomore Ella Manthey scored two goals, including her first career goal as a Forester, to help Lake Forest women's soccer win 5-0 against Ripon College on Tuesday. 

Manthey's first goal was the second of the game. The first came from senior Julia Larson, who was assisted by sophomore Kate Giere and junior Alyssa Xanos. Larson would assist Manthey on her goal about six minutes later.

Manthey went on to score her second goal within the last minute of the first half, putting the Foresters up 3-0. She was assisted by sophomores Madeline Moser and Ashley Birnesser.

In the 74th minute of play, Moser picked up her second assist of the evening when she connected with Giere, who scored with a header that went passed the goalie.

The fifth and final goal for the Foresters came within the last 10 minutes of the game when freshman Frannie Paldi was able to put the ball in the net unassisted. This was her first goal as a Forester.

Lake Forest out-shot the Red Hawks 35-2 and had an impressive 23 shots on goal. 

The Foresters are now 5-4 on the season and 2-0 in Conference play. Ripon College holds a 0-8-1 record and are 0-2 in Conference.

Lake Forest plays again on Saturday, October 2 at Monmouth College at 11:00 a.m.
