Foresters Sink Vikings 3-0 in First Game of Conference Play

Senior Julia Larson netted two goals in Lake Forest women's soccer's win over Lawrence University the Foresters' first game of Conference play on Saturday.

Larson's first goal came in the 54th minute when she took a pass from junior Alyssa Xanos and was able to find the back of the net with a quick kick.

Larson scored again less than eight minutes when Xanso brought the ball down to the box and passed it to junior Iman Shepard, who took a shot. The Lawrence goalie made a successful block and stepped out of the goal, allowing Larson, who got the rebound, to make the goal despite being closely guarded.

Junior Raven Dziedzinski scored the final goal of the game unassisted in the 68th minute of play. She was able to break away from most of the Viking defenders, travel down the middle of the field, and get the ball around the goalkeeper with an assured kick.

Lake Forest out-shot their opponents 12-5; five of them belonged to Larson.

The Foresters bring their record to 4-4. Lawrence is now 5-4 on their season.

Lake Forest plays again on Tuesday, September 28 at 4:30 PM at Ripon College.
