Junior Maria Perkkio was the first of five Foresters to score a goal in Sunday's 5-1 victory at Ripon College.

Perkkio headed in a corner kick from senior Sangjun Hornewer at the 6:56 mark. It was her third score of the season. The visitors added two more tallies in the next 10 minutes, the first by Hornewer and the second by freshman Alyssa Xanos. Hornewer leads the team with seven goals on the year, one more than Xanos.

The Foresters had a 7-1 advantage in shots in the opening half and led 3-0 at its completion.

After Ripon got on the scoreboard at the 65:14 mark, Lake Forest regained its three-goal lead 14 minutes later on freshman Raven Dziedzinksi's sixth score this season. A day after netting the first score of her collegiate career, freshman Paityn Tabor scored the second with less than five minutes to remaining. Junior Riley Medley assisted on the play.

The Foresters out-shot the Red Hawks 15-8 on the afternoon and sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Kersting stopped three of the home team's four shots on goal to earn the victory.

Lake Forest improved to 9-5-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the Midwest Conference while Ripon fell to 3-12-1 overall and 1-4-2 in the league.

The Foresters will close out the regular season at Lawrence University next Saturday at noon. A victory would clinch a spot in the four-team MWC Tournament the following weekend.
