Junior Maria Perkkio's second goal of the week was the official game-winner as Lake Forest defeated visiting St. Norbert College 3-1 on Saturday.

Perkkio took a pass through traffic from senior Sangjun Hornewer and, from just inside the top of the box, beat the St. Norbert goalkeeper to give the home team a 2-1 lead with 10:08 to play in the contest.

The Green Knights had taken the early lead just 16 minutes into the game and the score remained 1-0 for the rest of the opening period, as well as the first 24 minutes after halftime.

Lake Forest finally tied the score at 79:17 when Hornewer's corner kick was headed in by junior Morgan Henrichs, who elevated well above the defenders around her to earn her first goal of the year. The game was knotted for just 35 seconds before Perkkio untied it.

Forester freshman Raven Dziedzinski drew a foul in the box at the 88:33 mark and sophomore Hiwa Brown's penalty kick found the back of the net and all but clinched the victory. It was the first career goal for Brown, who serves as the team's last line of defense before the goalie.

The home team had a 15-10 edge in shots and both goalies made five saves in the game. Forester sophomore Maggie Kersting improved to 2-0-0 on the year and 6-1-1 in her career.

The Foresters are now 7-3-3 overall this season and they climbed into third place in the Midwest Conference standings at 2-0-2 in the league.

Lake Forest will travel south next weekend to take on Monmouth College on Saturday and Knox College on Sunday. Both contests will begin at 11:00 a.m.
