Sophomore Grace Monshausen scored her first career goal and the Lake Forest College women's soccer team left Illinois College with a 2-0 triumph on Saturday.

Monshausen all but clinched the victory when she received a pass from freshman Julia Larson and finished far post with 4:15 to play in the contest.

The score had been 1-0 since the 27th minute when senior Sangjun Hornewer scored her second of the year by redirecting a free kick from classmate Molly Major. It turned out to be Hornewer's first official game-winning goal in two seasons as a Forester.

Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Kersting earned her third consecutive shutout, although she faced no shots on goal, and is now 3-1-0 with a 0.44 goals against average in five appearances on the year.

Lake Forest had a 27-1 advantage in shot attempts on the afternoon.

The Foresters' are now 7-9-0 overall this season and 3-4-0 in Midwest Conference play. The Lady Blues fell to 6-11-0 overall and finished their 2018 league schedule at 2-7-0.

Lake Forest will host Lawrence University next Saturday at 1:30 p.m. before closing out the regular season at St. Norbert College the following afternoon at 2:30.
