The Forester women's soccer team scored the only goal of the game with just 2:24 remaining and held on for a dramatic victory over Knox College at home on Sunday.

The game-winner was scored by senior Molly Major but several other players touched the ball on the play. A Knox foul set up a free kick, which was taken by senior Jo Hendriksen in the left corner. The cross sailed over the crowd in front of the net but was headed back toward the goal by another Forester senior, Charlotte Jackson. The Knox goalkeeper got a piece of it on the way in and a Prairie Fire defender blocked it away from the goal. Major and sophomore Morgan Henrichs each got a foot on the ball and sent it into the net. The goal was officially awarded to Major with an assist to Henrichs.

Knox, which entered the contest 5-0-0 in Midwest Conference play, outshot the Foresters 8-4 in the first half and 10-2 in the second. Lake Forest freshman goalkeeper Maggie Kersting, however, made 10 saves to earn her second shutout of the weekend and improve to 2-1-0 since returning from injury that delayed her collegiate debut.

The victory improved the Foresters' overall record on the season to 6-9-0 and league mark to 2-4-0. Knox fell to 9-4-2 overall and 5-1-0 in the conference.

Lake Forest will continue MWC play next Saturday at Illinois College, where kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
