Foresters Drop MWC Opener to Beloit

The Lake Forest College women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by visiting Beloit College on Wednesday in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams.

The Buccaneers scored the game's only goal at the 10:18 mark and out-shot the Foresters 8-6 in the first half.

The Foresters had numerous opportunities to tie the score, putting a dozen shots on goal to Beloit's four in the contest. Lake Forest had an 11-3 advantage in shot attempts in the second half, which was interrupted for more than 45 minutes by a lightning delay.

Lake Forest sophomore goalkeeper Paige Thiel made three saves in the contest.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 4-5-0 while Beloit improved to 2-4-0.

Lake Forest will continue league play against Ripon College at home on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
