Junior Sangjun Hornewer set up a pair of first half goals and the Lake Forest College women's soccer team went on to win 4-1 over visiting Edgewood College on Saturday.

Hornewer sent a corner kick in front of the Edgewood goal and sophomore Morgan Henrichs headed it in for the first goal of the contest at the 18:53 mark.

The Foresters' second score came at the 36:03 mark and was set up by a pair of nice passes. Sophomore Maria Perkkio gained control of the ball near midfield and sped her way through the Eagle defense to within 25 yards of the goal. She then played it out to the left to Hornewer, who quickly crossed it in front of the goal, where senior Kasey Kraus was there to kick it in for her first score of the season.

Lake Forest had a 12-3 advantage in shots and a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Foresters added to their scoring total at 59:25 on freshman Julia Larson's fourth goal of the year. Senior Charlotte Jackson set up the score after drawing the attention of both defenders during a fast break opportunity. She put the ball out in front of Larson, who got to it just before the Eagle goalkeeper and sent it into the goal from the top of the box.

The home team added another insurance goal at 65:51. The Foresters were on the offensive side of the field but not yet threatening to score when Henrichs came up to play a loose ball and blasted it over the goalie and under the crossbar from 45 yards out. Henrichs matched Larson for team-high honors with her fourth score of the season.

Edgewood was able to avoid the shutout with a goal at the 78:05 mark.

Lake Forest out-shot the visitors 9-4 in the second half and 21-7 in the contest.

Forester sophomore goalkeeper Paige Thiel made three saves on the afternoon and is now 2-1-0 this season.

The victory evened Lake Forest's record on the year at 4-4-0 while Edgewood fell to 0-4-1.

The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play against visiting Beloit College Wednesday afternoon at 4:30.
