Julia Larson Records Hat Trick in Victory at Wisconsin Lutheran

Freshman midfielder Julia Larson scored three times as Lake Forest prevailed 4-2 at Wisconsin Lutheran College Tuesday night.

Larson's first career goal came at the 5:44 mark and tied the game at one. Sophomores Cassidy Hoyt and Maria Perkkio assisted on the score, matching the Warriors' tally just 45 seconds into the contest.

An unassisted score by Larson at the 26:07 mark put the visitors on top but Wisconsin Lutheran responded 10 minutes later and the teams were tied 2-2 at halftime, despite the Foresters' 11-5 advantage in shots.

The official game-winner was scored two minutes into the second half by sophomore defender Morgan Henrichs, who was there for the rebound when Hoyt's free kick was saved but not controlled by the Wisconsin Lutheran goalkeeper. It was the first goal of the season for Henrichs.

Lake Forest added an insurance goal and Larson completed her first career hat trick at 69:42. She gained control of the ball after a shot from senior Charlotte Jackson was blocked, slipped past three defenders and blasted it past the goalie for the score.

Both teams had nine shot attempts in the second half, giving the Foresters a 20-14 advantage in that category for the game.

Lake Forest freshman goalkeeper Sandra Greco made a pair of saves to earn the victory in the first appearance of her collegiate career.

The Foresters are now 2-1-0 on the season and will play their first home game of the season against Concordia University Chicago Friday at 4:30 p.m.
