Sophomore midfielder Cassidy Hoyt scored the Foresters' first goal of the season and Lake Forest College went on to record a 3-1 victory at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College on Saturday.

Hoyt, the Foresters' leading scorer last season, struck for the first time this year on a penalty kick at the 32:48 mark.

The visitors had a 21-2 edge in shots in the opening period but led by just one at halftime.

Senior defender Molly Major gave Lake Forest some breathing room with a score at the 56:57 mark and junior midfielder/defender Lexi Vargas added to the lead at 80:05 with an assist credited to sophomore midfielder Maria Perkkio.

The Forester defense allowed the Pomeroys to just one shot attempt in the second half but the home team took advantage of the opportunity, closing out the scoring at the 83:45 mark.

Lake Forest finished the contest with a 29-3 advantage in shots with 22 of those shots on target.

The Foresters are now 1-1-0 on the season while the Pomeroys fell to 0-3-0.

Lake Forest will be in action again Tuesday night at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
