Freshman defender Morgan Henrichs scored to give the visitors the early lead but the Lake Forest College women's soccer team was defeated 2-1 at Grinnell College on Sunday.

Henrichs was near the goal because of a free kick opportunity from approximately 45 yards out. The ball bounced around in the goal box before leaking out to the right. Freshman midfielder Cassidy Hoyt crossed it back in and Henrichs was there to finish at the 25:32 mark.

The Foresters were nearly able to make it through the opening period unscathed but a Grinnell score with 1:26 on the clock tied the game.

After out-shooting the Pioneers 7-6 in the first 45 minutes, Lake Forest doubled the home team's shot total 8-4 in the second half.

Grinnell, however, netted the only goal of the period at the 76:04 mark and held on for the victory.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 3-7-0 and their Midwest Conference mark to 1-1-0. Grinnell improved to 4-4-0 overall with victories in both of its league games.

Lake Forest will continue conference play next Sunday afternoon against visiting Lawrence University. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
