Freshman midfielder Cassidy Hoyt scored her team-high fifth goal of the season but the Forester women's soccer team was defeated 5-2 by Elmhurst College at home on Tuesday.

Hoyt tied the game at one when she fielded a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Sangjun Hornewer near the top of the box and scored over the goalkeeper's head at the 23:28 mark.

Elmhurst had scored the game's first goal in the 18th minute and regained the lead in the 32nd.

The home team drew even once again, however, at the 4:53 mark. Freshman midfielder Grace Monshausen played a free kick into the goal box, where it was headed in by sophomore midfielder Natalie Dixon. Dixon became the 11th different player to score a goal for the Foresters this season.

The Bluejays pulled ahead for good at the 48:12 mark, doubled their lead at 66:28, and tacked on another goal with just 1:26 to play.

The Foresters fell to 2-6-0 this season while Elmhurst improved to 4-1-0.

Lake Forest will begin Midwest Conference play this weekend in Iowa, taking on Cornell College at 1:00 Saturday afternoon and Grinnell College Sunday morning at 11:00.
