Both sides battled but the Lake Forest College women's soccer team was defeated 2-1 by visiting Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday.

The Foresters fell behind in the game's sixth minute but eventually tied the score at the 25:44 mark. Sophomore midfielder Sangjun Hornewer's corner kick was headed up into the air by sophomore midfielder Lexi Vargas and then headed in by senior defender Shari Jacobson. It was the first score of the season for Jacobson.

Concordia Wisconsin out-shot the home team 6-4 in the opening half, which ended with the score still tied 1-1.

A Falcon free kick that slipped past players from both teams and into the goal in the 62nd minute proved to be the difference on the scoreboard.

Lake Forest had an 11-8 advantage in shots in the second half but were unable to even the score. It was the fifth consecutive meeting between the two teams that was decided by one goal or less.

The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the season to 2-5-0 while Concordia Wisconsin improved to 1-2-2.

Lake Forest will play its fifth straight home game on Tuesday against Elmhurst College. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m.
