Despite the first career goal for sophomore Kasey Kraus, the Forester women's soccer team was defeated 2-1 by visiting Macalester College during the 2016 Associated Colleges of the Midwest Soccer Showcase on Friday.
The goal by Kraus was set up by a long pass into the box by sophomore defender Cath Auger Morin that caromed off the heads of freshman forward Emma Byrne and a Macalester defender. The ball then rolled over to Kraus who put it past the Scots' goalie and into the left side of the net to make the score 2-1 with 8:15 to play in the contest.
Macalester had scored the game's first goal 20 minutes into the contest. The Scots' second score came seven-and-a-half minutes after halftime.
The Foresters were out-shot 7-5 in the first half and 7-4 in the second.
Lake Forest is now 2-1-0 and Macalester 2-0-1 on the season.
The Foresters will host Coe College in their other ACM Soccer Showcase game Saturday afternoon at 1:00. Macalester will take on Lawrence University at the same time.
