Freshman forward Emma Byrne assisted on the game's first goal and scored the last as the Forester women's soccer team won 4-0 at Wisconsin Lutheran College Thursday night. It was the season opener for both teams.
Byrne set up freshman midfielder Natalie Dixon's first career goal at the 11:48 mark of the first half to give the visitors the early lead. An unassisted goal by senior midfielder Lindsay Hartup at the 35:15 mark made the score 2-0 and it remained that way for the rest of the period. It was Hartup's fifth career score.
Junior midfielder Kayla Wuest's 12th career score at 59:06 was set up by sophomore midfielder Molly Major and Byrne's first career goal just 4:12 later was the game's final tally.
Senior goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta kept the Warriors off the scoreboard for the first 75:22 and sophomore Carrie Wynkoop played the final 14:38. Neither was forced to make a save as Lake Forest had a 28-2 advantage in shots and an 11-0 edge in shots on goal.
The Foresters' next game will be the 2016 home opener against Concordia University Wisconsin Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
