In a rematch of last season's Midwest Conference Tournament final, the Lake Forest College women's soccer team prevailed 4-1 at Ripon College on Saturday, the first day of league play. Forester senior defender Sam Hillis became the program's career leader in assists on the team's first goal of the afternoon.

Hillis launched a corner kick that was sent in by senior forward Michelle Greeneway at 9:55. It was the 38th career assist for Hillis, surpassing the previous record set by Nicole Tarandy in 1990. Twenty-one of her assists have come on Greeneway goals.

Lake Forest out-shot the home team 12-2 in the first period but still led by just one at halftime.

Greeneway netted her second goal of the day on a penalty kick at 49:18 and completed her 12th career hat trick less than four minutes later.

Forester freshman goalkeeper Kaylee Price kept Ripon off the scoreboard until the 87:04 mark and made a pair of saves in her first career victory.

Lake Forest freshman midfielder Jo Hendriksen converted another penalty kick opportunity for her first career goal with 1:48 to play.

The Foresters had a 20-4 advantage in shot attempts in the final 45 minutes.

The victory raised Lake Forest's overall record on the season to 4-2-1 while the loss left Ripon with a mark of 3-3-1. It was the MWC opener for both teams.

The Foresters will continue league play at Knox College next Saturday. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
