The Lake Forest College women's soccer team extended the longest season-opening winning streak in program history to seven games on Tuesday with a 3-2 triumph over visiting Dominican University. Junior Michelle Greeneway scored a pair of goals in the game, including the 50th of her career.

Greeneway's first goal of the game was her 50th in just 46 career games and tied the contest at one. She received a well-placed corner kick from junior Sam Hillis and headed it past the Stars' goalkeeper at the 30:52 mark.

Lake Forest outshot the visitors 8-2 in the first half but the score remained 1-1.

Another Hillis corner kick from the right side found Greeneway at 54:19 and the program's third-leading scorer used her head again to give the Foresters the lead. It was Greeneway's team-high 10th goal in seven games this year and her 51 career scores are just one shy of Nicole Tarandy (1987-90) for second in program history and three away from the school record set by Melissa Stevenson in 2005. Hillis now leads the team with five assists on the season.

Junior Holly Lesperance netted what proved to be a valuable insurance goal with 15:25 to play, extending the Forester lead to two. The score was set up by a cross from the right side of the field by freshman Kayla Wuest and kicked in by Lesperance, who is now tied for second in program history with a dozen career game-winning goals, one fewer than Greeneway.

Dominican closed to within a goal with just 1:09 on the game clock. Lake Forest kept possession of the ball the rest of the way to clinch the victory.

Forester sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Kirsch made a pair of saves in the game and is now 4-0-0 with a 1.00 goals against average on the year.

Lake Forest, which is ranked 25th in the nation in this week's D3soccer.com poll, is now 7-0-0 for the first time in program history. Dominican fell to 3-3-0.

The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play on Saturday against visiting Ripon College. The team's Homecoming game is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
