Foresters Blank Beloit Behind Michelle Greeneway's Hat Trick

The Lake Forest College women's soccer team hosted and defeated Beloit College 7-0 on Sunday. Forester sophomore Michelle Greeneway had a hat trick just 20 minutes into the contest.

Greeneway started the scoring at the 12:04 mark, netted another goal just 86 seconds later, and completed her second hat trick of the season and third of her career at 19:56. She leads the Foresters with 14 goals on the season. Freshman Cara Durgin assisted on Greeneway's first score, sophomore Holly Lesperance and  set up the second, and sophomore Sam Hillis tied for the team lead with her fifth assist of the year on the third.

Lesperance added her eight score of the season off a long pass up the middle of the field from freshman Courtney Kehrmann and deflection from junior Megan O'Connor at the 40-minute mark. Freshman Kyle Chavarria made it a 5-0 Forester lead when classmate Lindsay Hartup set up her third goal of the year at 42:48.

Hartup netted her second goal of 2013 off quick passes from Kehrman and sophomore Katie Koenig at 72:00 and freshman Nina Perkkio finished off the scoring with an unassisted goal, her third of the year, with 5:10 on the clock.

Lake Forest freshman goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta kept the Bucaneers off the scoreboard for the game's first 45 minutes and Caroline Kirsch blanked the visitors during the second half.

The Foresters are now 9-4-0 overall this season and 4-2-0 in Midwest Conference play. Beloit fell to 2-10-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the league.

Lake Forest will continue conference play at Knox College next Saturday. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
