Foresters Blank Knox to Clinch a Spot in MWC Tournament

The Lake Forest College women's soccer team hosted and defeated Knox College 4-0 in the rain on Saturday. Senior Hailey Schleibinger assisted on the first goal and scored the second for the Foresters.

Schleibinger and freshman Sam Hillis set up freshman Holly Lesperance on the game's first goal at 7:12. It was the fifth game-winning goal of the year for Lesperance.

Schleibinger netted her second score of the season on an unassisted goal at 9:06.

Freshman Michelle Greeneway made the score 3-0 on her team-high 13th goal of the season at 17:31. Hillis picked up her second assist of the game and fourth this year.

Lake Forest outshot the Prairie Fire 14-0 in the first half and 10-1 in the second.

The final goal of the afternoon was the second of the game and 11th this season for Lesperance. Junior Courtney Garth assisted on the score just 85 seconds after halftime.

Forester senior goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger recorded her fifth shutout of the season and 15th of her career.

Lake Forest raised its overall record to 10-4-1 and Midwest Conference mark to 7-0-1. The Foresters clinched a spot in the four-team MWC Tournament November 2-3. Knox fell to 3-10-0 overall and 0-6-0 in conference play.

Lake Forest will play its final non-conference game of the regular season against visiting Benedictine University Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
