Lake Forest College women's soccer players Becky Esrock
(St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) and Bri Schleibinger (Spring
Grove, Ill./ Richmond Burton) were named Midwest Conference
Offensive and Defensive Performers of the Week, respectively, on
Monday (October 26) for their performance in three victories in the
previous seven days.
Esrock, a freshman forward, began the week on Wednesday by
assisting on the game-winner and adding an insurance goal early in
the second half of a 5-1 victory over visiting Dominican
University. She then registered her third hat trick of the season
in a 4-1 triumph at home over Grinnell College on Saturday,
starting things off with a goal 70 seconds into the contest and
putting the game out of reach with two more early in the second
half.
Schleibinger, a freshman goalkeeper, recorded one save in
Wednesday's win over Dominican and stopped three of four
shots on goal against Grinnell. Finally, on Sunday, she tallied
five saves in a 1-0 victory at Beloit College. It was her third
shutout of the season and the win clinched a spot for the Foresters
in the 2009 MWC Tournament.
Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the
league's sports information
directors. Esrock also earned the award on September 14 and
Schleibinger on September 28.
