The Forester women's soccer team won 1-0 at Beloit College on
Sunday (October 25). Lake Forest is now 10-6-0 overall this season
and 5-2-0 in Midwest Conference play. The loss dropped the
Buccaneers to 7-8-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the league.
The Foresters scored the only goal of the game 17 minutes and 10
seconds into the game. Freshman Becky Esrock (St. Louis,
Mo./Whitfield School) put a shot on goal that was saved by the
Beloit goalie but senior Emily Sadler (Everett, Wash./Cascade
Senior) was there to kick in the rebound.
Lake Forest out-shot the home team 8-2 in the first half and 10-5
in the second but was unable to score again.
Beloit was kept off the scoreboard by a Forester defense led by
freshman goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond
Burton), who finished the contest with five saves and her third
shutout of the season.
The victory clinched a spot for the Foresters in the four-team MWC
Tournament November 6-7. The event will be hosted by the winner of
Saturday's (October 31) game between Carroll University and host
St. Norbert College.
The Foresters will play a pair of MWC road games next weekend
(October 31-November 1), taking on Illinois College on Saturday and
Monmouth College on Sunday. Both contests will begin at noon.
