Lake Forest Takes Early Lead but Falls to St. Norbert

The Forester women's soccer team was defeated 4-1 by visiting St. Norbert College on Saturday (September 19). Lake Forest fell to 3-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Midwest Conference play while the Green Knights' victory in their first league game raised their overall marck to 3-2-0.

The Foresters scored first on freshman Becky Esrock (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) team-high eighth goal of the season with just 4:58 remaining in the opening period. She was assisted by juniors Emily Weber (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills Upper School) and Bianca Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica).

St. Norbert, however, tied the score seven minutes and 13 seconds into the second half and then took the lead 12 minutes later. The visitors tacked on insurance goals at 73:19 and 80:05.

Forester freshman goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond Burton) recorded a season-high eight saves in the contest.

Lake Forest will host a non-conference game against Alverno College tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. The Foresters will then host Carthage College Wednesday (September 23) at 4:30 p.m. before resuming league play against Lawrence University next Sunday afternoon (September 27) at 1:00.
