The Forester women's soccer team prevailed 6-1 at Ripon College
Saturday (September 12) in the Midwest Conference opener for both
teams. Lake Forest evened its record on the season at 2-2-0 while
the Red Hawks fell to 0-4-0.
The Foresters got on the scoreboard just 75 seconds into the
contest on the first of freshman Becky Esrock's (St. Louis,
Mo./Whitfield School) four goals on the day. She was assisted by
senior Jocelyn Maneval (Fairfax, Va./James W. Robinson). Esrock
found the back of the net again at 7:35 and junior Bianca Greene
(Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica) recorded her team-high fourth
assist of the year on the play. Freshman Lisa Sorensen (Muskegon,
Mich./Western Michigan Christian) netted her first career goal at
the 21-minute mark with sophomore Isabel Brown (Tucson,
Ariz./Tucson Magnet) earning the assist.
Ripon scored its only goal of the contest in the 29th minute and
the score was 3-1 in favor of the visitors at halftime.
Lake Forest got off to a fast start again after intermission.
Esrock scored her third goal of the game 10 minutes into the
period, Sorensen added her second of the contest at 57:24, and
Esrock closed out the scoring just 63 seconds later.
Forester freshman Bri Schleibinger (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond
Burton) tallied four saves in the victory.
It was Esrock's second hat trick of the year and she leads the team
with 15 points on seven goals and an assist. She is the first
Forester two score four times in a game since Tanya Lopez '06
accomplished the feat against Concordia University Wisconsin on
September 5, 2002.
Lake Forest will play a non-conference game at Milwaukee School of
Engineering Tuesday night (September 15) at 7:00. The team's next
league game will be at home next Saturday (September 19) against
St. Norbert College. The contest will begin at 2:00 p.m.
