The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team was defeated 16-6 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Sunday.

The Falcons jumped out to the early lead, scoring five times in the game's first eight minutes. Forester junior Ryleigh Nelson, who had five goals and three assists on Saturday, converted a free position shot opportunity to stop the run but the home team struck twice more in the quarter and led 7-1 going into the second.

Lake Forest freshman Emma Sharp scored her 11th goal of the season and junior Ali Graham her team-leading 41st to bring the visitors to within four early in the second stanza. River Falls, however, scored the final five goals of the quarter and led 12-3 at halftime.

The Falcons blanked the Foresters while scoring three times themselves in the third.

Nelson, Lake Forest's leader with 26 assists on the year, set up sophomore Abby Meyer's 12th of the spring early in the fourth and sophomore Jenna Doctor matched her 2022 total with her 36th of the season later in the quarter. Nelson added her second of the day and 21st this year to close out the scoring.

Forester freshman goalie Cecilia Adams made a season-high 11 saves in the contest.

Graham and Meyer shared the team lead with three ground balls apiece and Graham added a game-high five draw controls and four caused turnovers.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's overall record this season to 6-9 while River Falls improved to 10-5.

The Foresters will close out Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play against the University of Northwestern at home next Saturday. The team's Senior Day game will begin at 11:00 a.m.
