The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team hosted and defeated Hamline University 12-9 on Saturday.

Sophomore Jenna Doctor scored five of the Foresters' goals and assisted on two others. Her first of the day started the scoring just 46 seconds into the contest. The home team took the lead two more times in the opening quarter on scores by junior Ryleigh Nelson and the home team was ahead 3-2 after 15 minutes of play. Nelson now has a dozen goals on the year.

After the Pipers tied the score a third time early in the second, Lake Forest took control of the game with four in a row. The first two came from freshman Emma Sharp, who raised her season total to seven. Doctor struck again on a man-up goal and junior Ali Graham's free position shot hit the net to make it a 7-3 game with five minutes to play in the half. Hamline answered with a free position goal with 3:55 to play and the score remained 7-4 for the rest of the period,

Doctor completed her sixth hat trick of the spring and 13th of her career on a free position shot early in the third quarter and, after a score by Graham, Doctor struck again just 12 seconds later to give Lake Forest a 10-4 advantage with 11 minutes to play in the period. Nelson set up Doctor's fifth goal of the game and team-high 28th of the season later in the third, which ended with Lake Forest ahead 11-7.

Graham's 23rd of the year was the Foresters' only score of the fourth but they limited the Pipers to just a pair of goals in the quarter to secure the victory.

Graham led Lake Forest with four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and a game-high four draw controls.

The Foresters' goalkeepers, sophomore Calliope Saban and freshman Cecilia Adams, combined to make nine saves in the contest.

The victory was Lake Forest's third in a row and the team is now 4-6 overall and 3-0 in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play. Hamline fell to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the league.

The Foresters will play at the College of St. Benedict Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
