The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-7 decision to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in non-conference action on Sunday.

The Foresters never led in the game but answered the Falcons' first three goals with ones of their own. Freshman Cass Barbera netted the home team's first goal of the day to make the score 1-1 less than three minutes into the contest. It was 2-2 after fellow freshman Jenna Doctor's tally at the 4:32 mark and 3-3 once classmate Savannah Frauhiger extended her season-opening goal streak to eight games just 36 seconds later.

River Falls, however, scored the final three goals of the opening period and led the rest of the way.

All three Forester goal scorers in the first quarter added another later in the game. Doctor's came in the second and raised her team-high total on the year to 18. Barbera struck for the 12th time this season in the middle of the third period and Frauhiger notched her 13th of 2022 with 5:30 to play in the game.

Lake Forest sophomore Ryleigh Nelson added a fourth-quarter goal that made her the eighth player on the team to reached double figures in that category this year.

River Falls led 7-4 at halftime and outscored the Foresters 8-1 in the third quarter and 3-2 in the fourth.

The Falcons outshot the home team 46-14 and Lake Forest freshman goalie Calliope Saban made a season-high 15 saves in the game.

The Foresters fell to 5-3 while River Falls remained undefeated after eight games.

Lake Forest will travel to Minnesota next weekend for the program's first two Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference contests. The Foresters are slated to play at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul Friday evening at 5:00 and at Hamline University at noon on Sunday.
