Turnage All-NCHA Again, Poppleton Named to All-Freshman Team

The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association announced its end-of-season awards for the women on Thursday and two Foresters were among the honorees.

Goaltender Hannah Turnage was named All-NCHA for the second straight season. The senior played more than any other goalie in the league, starting 15 of 16 conference contests. She tied for first in the NCHA with four shutouts and ranked second with a .947 save percentage and fourth with a 1.58 goals against average in league play. In 25 appearances overall, Turnage has made a program record 751 saves while her .941 save percentage and five shutouts are among the top four single-season marks in team history.

Defenseman Willow Poppleton was an NCHA All-Freshman Team selection after assisting on six goals and ranked second among Foresters with a plus/minus rating of +13 during conference play. She is second on the squad with a dozen assists and a +17 rating while playing in all 27 of the team's games overall.

The Foresters enter Friday's NCHA Slaats Cup Playoff semifinal at Adrian College with an overall record of 15-8-4. They placed fourth in the NCHA standings at 9-5-2 in league play.
