Lauren Wensel of women's hockey and Mario Florio of men's lacrosse were announced as Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Wensel helped the Foresters defeat Concordia University Wisconsin in the quarterfinals of the Slaats Cup on Friday and Saturday. and advance to the semi-finals of the Slaats Cup. In Saturday's 6-3 victory, Lauren had her first career hat-trick, putting up a shorthanded goal, a Powerplay goal, and a rebound. Her third goal of the game turned out to be her third game-winning goal of the 2022-23 season.
Florio scored seven times in the team's win against Beloit College on Saturday. His goal total was the highest by a Forester since the program returned to varsity status last year.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. This is the first time either player has earned the distinction.
