The Forester women's hockey team was edged out 2-1 at Marian University on Saturday in the final game of the regular season.

Sophomore defenseman Abby Meyer scored the only goal of the game for the visitors at the 7:18 mark of the opening period. Her fifth goal of the season came on the power play and was assisted by senior forward Marissa Gebauer and defenseman Karya Dean.

The score remained 1-0 until the opening minute of the second period when the Sabres netted a short-handed goal.

The game-winner also came on special teams and, unfortunately for the Foresters, it was a power play goal for the home team at 9:03 in the final period.

The Foresters outshot Marian 37-16 in the game but was unable to come back and tie the score.

The loss left Lake Forest with an overall record of 14-8-3 and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark of 9-5-2. Marian improved to 9-15-1 overall and 5-11-0 in the league.

The Foresters will host Concordia University Wisconsin in the quarterfinals of the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs next weekend. The teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
