The Lake Forest College women's hockey team came through with a game-tying goal late in Saturday's 2-2 tie with Aurora University, the 14th-ranked team in the nation.

Senior forward Marissa Gebauer put in a rebound with just 14.9 seconds remaining to force overtime. She was in front of the net when senior defenseman Karya Dean's shot from outside the left circle was saved but not secured by the Aurora goaltender. It was the Foresters' second power play goal of the afternoon and the second score of the season for Gebauer.

All four of the game's tallies were power play scores at the north end of the ice, beginning with the first career goal for Lake Forest freshman forward Emma Sweeney at the 15:12 mark of the opening period. She was assisted by sophomore defenseman Sophia Chapman.

Aurora tied the game just 57 seconds into the second and the visitors took the lead at 14:21 in the same period.

The Spartans outshot the Foresters 44-20 but Lake Forest senior goaltender Hannah Turnage made 42 saves to earn the tie. She has turned away 135 of 141 shots on goal in the Foresters' last three games.

Turnage was also able to stop two of four attempts in the shootout while Aurora's goalie was successful three times and the visitors earned a second point in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association standings.

The tie leaves Lake Forest with an overall record of 2-3-1 and a mark of 0-1-0 in the NCHA. Aurora is now 6-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the league.

After a weekend off, the Foresters will travel north for three contests at the beginning of December. After a non-conference game at Northland College on Friday, December 2, they will face off at NCHA member Finlandia University the next two days.
