Foresters Well-Represented on NCHA End-of-Season Awards List

The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association released its end-of-season awards for the women on Wednesday and Lake Forest College's Marissa Gebauer, Olyvia Opsahl, and Hannah Turnage were All-NCHA honorees. In addition, Sophia Chapman was named to the NCHA All-Freshman Team.

Gebauer ranked second in the conference with 18 points on 11 goals and 7 assists during league play. The junior forward had at least one point in 10 of 15 games with a trio of three-point performances, including a hat trick against Aurora University on November 20. She was named NCHA Offensive Player of the Week on January 18.

Opsahl, one of the Foresters' captains, tied for the league lead among defensemen with 14 points and led all players at the position with seven goals in conference play. Four of the senior's scores were game-winners and she tied for the NCHA lead in that category as well. She earned NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors last Monday.

Turnage's 13 victories during league play were easily the most of any goaltender in the conference and she finished fourth with a .943 save percentage and 1.58 goals against average. The junior limited NCHA foes to one goal or less in nine of 16 appearances and surrendered more than two scores just three times.

Chapman is one of three defensemen listed among the top rookies in the league. She finished the conference schedule with six points on a pair of goals and four assists.

Lake Forest finished second in the NCHA standings with a league mark of 13-3-0 and defeated Marian University in the NCHA Slaats Cup quarterfinals last weekend. The Foresters will take on St. Norbert College in a one-game semifinal Friday afternoon at 2:00 at Adrian College with Saturday's final also scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
