Lake Forest College women's hockey player Olyvia Opsahl was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the Foresters' sweep of Marian University over the weekend.
Opsahl scored the officials game-winning goals in Friday's 2-1 triumph at home and Saturday's 3-1 victory in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The senior defenseman and team captain also assisted on an additional tally on Saturday. She has now scored in four consecutive contests and accounted for the game-winning goal in three of them.
With seven goals and as many assists in 16 NCHA games this season, Opsahl is tied for the conference lead in points by a defenseman during league play. She now has 37 career points on a dozen goals and 25 assists over the last four years.
NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league office.
