Lake Forest Rolls in Game Two at Trine

After posting an overtime victory in Friday night's series opener, the Forester women's hockey team prevailed 5-1 in game two at Trine University on Saturday.

Senior forwards Emelia Edmondson and Abigail Tucci and junior forward Stokli Ashcraft each had a goal and assist as the visitors jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the end of the opening period.

Senior defenseman Olyvia Opsahl added a 5-on-3 power play goal early in the second and the Thunder finally got on the scoreboard late in the period.

Ashcraft netted the final goal of the contest just 87 seconds into the third period. It was her ninth tally of the season and finished off her second three-point performance of the season.

Forester junior goaltender Hannah Turnage stopped 36 of 37 shots on goal in the contest, including all 23 she faced in the final period, and raised her save percentage on the season to .933.

Lake Forest improved to 11-9-0 overall and 11-3-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play while Trine fell to 5-15-1 overall and 2-9-1 in the league. 

The Foresters will host Marian University in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Friday at 4:00 p.m. before the same two teams close out the regular season 24 hours later in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
