Shoebottom and Turnage Named NCHA Players of the Week

Lake Forest College juniors Samantha Shoebottom and Hannah Turnage were named North Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday after leading the Foresters to a pair of victories at Aurora University over the weekend.

Shoebottom set up the first three goals of Saturday's 5-0 blanking of the Spartans, posting the first three-assist game by a Forester in nearly three years. Lake Forest prevailed 6-4 on Sunday with Shoebottom scoring two of the goals, including the official game-winner, and assisting on another.

Despite missing nearly six minutes of Saturday's shutout after taking a stick to the face, Turnage stopped all 41 shots on goal she faced in the game. She added 40 more saves on Sunday to finish the weekend with a .953 save percentage.

Shoebottom leads the Foresters and ranks sixth in the NCHA with 1.33 points per game on the year. The forward is also tied for second in the league and 19th in the nation in assist per game with six in as many contests. Turnage has recorded at least 40 saves in a game four times and owns a .920 save percentage this season.

NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league office.
