Three Foresters Recognized by NCHA

The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association announced its end of season award winners on Wednesday and three Foresters were listed. Senior forward Sydney Simone and junior defenseman Jordan Trapp were All-NCHA selections while defenseman Karya Dean was named to the NCHA All-Freshman Team.

Simone led Lake Forest and tied for ninth in the conference with nine goals and her eight assists tied her with Trapp and Dean for team-high honors. She scored a league-high four shorthanded goals, tied for second in the NCHA with four game-winners, and tied for seventh with three power play scores. Simone ranks third in program history with 67 career assists and sixth with 99 points.

Trapp tied for the team lead in plus/minus at +8 and her 12 points ranked second on the squad. All four of her goals and seven of her assists came against conference opponents, tying her for second among NCHA defensemen in points during league play.

Dean scored three goals and assisted on eight during her first year as a Forester. She ranked tied-for-fifth place among NCHA defensemen and freshmen in points.

Lake Forest has now had at least one All-NCHA honoree and a member of the NCHA All-Freshman Team each of the last six years. Simone and Trapp were NCHA All-Freshman Team selections in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

The Foresters finished the regular season in second place in the NCHA standings at 12-3-1 in league play and enter Friday's NCHA Slaats Cup semifinal against the College of St. Scholastica with an overall record of 16-10-1.
