After being named the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, freshman Marissa Gebauer earned Forester Athlete of the Week honors on Thursday.
The forward was a vital component to the women's wins over Concordia Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday as she contributed to four out of the seven goals the Foresters scored against the Falcons.
On Friday, Gebauer's goal in the second period helped push her team ahead 2-1, and her goal in the third period turned out to be the game-winner for Lake Forest. The Foresters won 3-2.
Returning to the ice on Saturday, the women triumphed over the Falcons 4-1. Gebauer earned an assist on what would be the game-winning goal in the second period and went on to score her eighth goal of the season later in the third.
Gabauer has earned a goal in five out of the Foresters' last seven games. She is tied-for-fourth in the league in goals during NCHA play.
The Foresters are now the #2 seed heading into this weekend's quarterfinals for the NCHA Slaats Cup. The women finished the regular season 15-9-1 overall and 12-3-1 in league play.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
