Nine Foresters Score in Shutout of Finlandia

Sophomore defenseman Megan Truman was one of five Foresters to score one goal and assist on another Saturday afternoon in the team's 9-0 victory over visiting Finlandia University.

Junior defenseman Jordan Trapp was the first of the five to accomplsh the feat, assisting on senior forward Sydney Simone's power play goal at the 4:31 mark of the opening period and scoring first the second time this year at 6:26. Simone and junior forward Annie Dalton were next. Dalton netted her first goal of the season at 12:09 in the first period and joined Simone in assisting on senior forward Kate Fanning's fifth of the year with 40.8 seconds on the clock. Lake Forest's other goal of the first period was the third of the year for senior forward Kristina Bellomo and came at 5:23.

Taking a 5-0 lead into the second period, the Foresters added two more scores in the second with senior forward Maddie Davis contributing to both. Her first tally of the year came at the 8:44 mark and she assisted freshman forward Kelly McCullough, who had scored her first career goal the previous night, at 13:28.

Truman matched Davis in the third, scoring at 8:39 and assisting sophomore forward Grace Black with exactly a minute remaining in the contest. They were the first goals of the season for both players.

Forester freshman goaltender Hannah Turnage kept the Lions off the scoreboard in her first career victory and shutout.

It was the third time in program history Lake Forest had nine different players score in a game. The team also did so during another 9-0 win over visiting Marian University in February of 2011 and nine Foresters contributed to 14 total goals in a shutout of Chatham College in the 2005-06 season opener in Flint, Michigan.

The victory evened Lake Forest's overall record on the season at 8-8-1 and the team improved to 5-2-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Lions suffered their 13th loss in as many games this season, including eight league contests.

The Foresters will host St. Norbert College next weekend with the series opener starting Saturday night at 7:00 and the finale at 2:00 Sunday afternoon.
