Junior forward Megan Lyke scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 2:25 remaining in Saturday's 2-1 triumph at Trine University.

Lyke's second score of the season and 21st of her career was assisted by senior forward Maddie Davis.

The score had been 1-1 since the Thunder netted their only goal of the weekend off Forester junior goaltender Julieana Tarantino at the 10:19 mark of the second period. Tarantino made 19 saves on Saturday after stopping all 28 shots on goal she faced in Friday night's scoreless tie. She is now 2-1-1 with a .906 save percentage on the season.

Lake Forest had taken the early lead on senior forward Lexi Morgan's shorthanded goal at 9:46 in the opening period. Fellow senior forward Kristina Bellomo set up the score, which moved Morgan into a tie for ninth place in program history with 39 goals over the last four years, including three so far in 2019-20. She also became just the fifth Forester with as many as four career shorthanded scores.

Both teams were unsuccessful on four power play opportunities and the Foresters had a 38-20 advantage in shots in the contest.

Lake Forest improved to 4-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play this year while Trine fell to 3-4-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the league.

It was the final game of the fall semester for the Foresters, whose next two games will be against Bethel University and host Hamline University the first weekend in January.
