Foresters Fall at Aurora in Last Minute of Overtime

Junior forward Mackenzie Kamm helped Lake Forest take the lead twice Friday night at Aurora University but the Foresters eventually fell 4-3 in overtime.

Kamm's second goal of the year gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at the 16:14 mark of the second period and she assisted on senior forward Lexi Morgan's second score of the season 10 minutes into the third, putting the Foresters on top 3-2.

The Spartans tied the game with four minutes to play in regulation and then scored the game-winner with 24.8 seconds remaining in overtime.

All seven goals of the night were scored after the midpoint of the second stanza. Aurora took the lead at the 12:19 mark and the Foresters responded just 59 seconds later on sophomore forward Abigail Tucci's first goal of the year. A pair of defenseman, senior Julia Unterseher and freshman Karya Dean, set up Kamm's score and Lake Forest was ahead 2-1 going into the third. The Spartans pulled even for the first time at 5:25 in the third but Kamm and junior defenseman Jordan Trapp set up Morgan at 10:05.

Lake Forest outshot Aurora 42-32 in the contest.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 2-3-0 and their Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 2-1-0. Aurora remained perfect at 7-0-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the league. The teams will face off again at Aurora Saturday afternoon at 3:00.
