Lake Forest Sweeps NCHA Player of the Week Honors

Foresters Lexi Morgan and Jacque Rogers were named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday, after the team earned three points in the league standings against Adrian College over the weekend.

Morgan was responsible for the Foresters' first goal in both contests, beginning with what proved to be the game-winning score in Friday night's 2-0 victory. The junior forward lit the lamp at the 6:26 mark of the second period and the home team added another score just a few minutes later. Rogers, a junior goaltender, stopped all 21 shots on goal she faced on the night for her 15th career shutout.

Lake Forest trailed 1-0 when Morgan struck again in Saturday's 2-2 tie. She scored her third career short-handed goal at 4:51 in the second stanza. The Foresters took the lead at 8:27 in the third but the Bulldogs tied the score in the final minute. Rogers made 26 saves to finish the weekend with 47 stops in 49 opportunities.

Rogers ranks 12th in the nation this season with a .945 save percentage and 16th with a goals against average of 1.43. She leads the NCHA in both categories. Morgan is tied-for-second on the team and 18th in the conference with six goals on the year.

NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of media and information. Morgan also earned the award once as a freshman while Rogers is now a four-time honoree with two selections this year and two in 2016-17.
