Senior forward Amy Budde's goal in the opening period was not quite enough as Lake Forest fell 2-1 on Saturday to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the 10th-ranked team in the nation.
Budde's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association-leading 12th score of the season came at the 14:59 mark and tied the game at one. She was assisted by junior defenseman Julia Unterseher.
Eau Claire had taken the lead on a power play goal a little more than two minutes earlier and finished the game's first 20 minutes with a 17-3 advantage in shots on goal but tied on the scoreboard.
The Blugolds converted on another power play opportunity at the 5:49 mark of the second period and outshot the home team 18-7 in the middle stanza.
Shots were 12-7 in favor of the visitors in a scoreless final period.
Less than 24 hours after making a season-high 36 saves in Lake Forest's 3-1 triumph over Eau Claire Friday night, junior goaltender Jacque Rogers came up just one shy of her career-high with 45 in 47 chances on Saturday. She raised her save percentage on the year to .937, the third-best mark in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
Lake Forest is now 8-4-3 and Eau Claire 10-4-2 on the season.
The Foresters will resume NCHA play against St. Norbert College at home next weekend. Friday afternoon's game will begin at 4:00 and Saturday's contest is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
