Junior forward Sydney Simone matched her season goal total for the second day in a row as the Lake Forest College women's hockey team prevailed 3-2 Monday afternoon at Bowdoin College.

Simone, who scored for the second time on the year in the Foresters' 1-1 tie at Colby College on Sunday, netted her third tally of 2018-19 at the 10:52 mark of Monday's second period. Senior forward Amy Budde assisted on the goal that erased the Polar Bears' 1-0 lead.

Lake Forest had an 18-8 advantage in shots on goal in the first two periods but the game was still tied at one with 20 minutes to play. It remained 1-1 until Simone struck again with 7:50 remaining in the contest. Junior forward Kate Fanning assisted on the go-ahead goal. Budde added what proved to be a valuable insurance goal just 66 seconds later. It was her team-high 10th score and fourth official game-winner of the year.

The Foresters killed a penalty down the stretch and Bowdoin pulled the goaltender in favor of an extra attacker with 1:15 to play. The home team finally scored again with just a few seconds of the contest but Lake Forest came away with the 3-2 victory.

Forester junior goalie Jacque Rogers made 21 saves on the day and evened her record on the season at 3-3-2.

Lake Forest improved to 7-3-3 while Bowdoin fell to 0-8-1.

After a weekend off, the Foresters will play their first home game in more than a month when they host the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Friday, January 11, at 7:30 p.m. The teams will face off again the following afternoon at 2:00.
