Lake Forest Skates to 2-2 Tie with Aurora

Senior forward Amy Budde tied the score in the third period on her third goal in as many games and the Forester women's hockey team, despite a 42-12 advantage in shots on goal, tied visiting Aurora University 2-2 Friday night.

Lake Forest fell behind early, surrendering a power play goal at the 5:31 mark of the opening period and another score at 15:19. The Foresters out-shot their guests 12-4 in the game's first 20 minutes but trailed 2-0 at the first intermission.

The comeback began at 6:07 in the second with sophomore forward Maddie Davis' first score of the season. She was assisted by junior forward Kristina Bellomo, who leads the team with four points on the year.

Lake Forest had a 13-4 advantage in shots on goal in the second stanza and an 11-4 edge in the third. Budde lit the lamp at the 8:42 mark with assists credited to junior defenseman Amanda Boisjolie and sophomore forward Makenzie Kamm.

Shot were 6-0 in favor of the home team in the scoreless five-minute overtime period.

The tie leaves both teams with 2-2-1 overall records. The Forester are now 2-0-1 and Aurora 1-1-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. They will face off again Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
