Lake Forest Drops Season Opener at Nation's 10th-Ranked team

The Forester women's hockey team was defeated 3-0 Friday night at the University of St. Thomas in the season opener for both teams.

The Tommies entered the season ranked tied-for-10th in the country by USCHO.com.

The home team started the scoring at the 12:53 mark of the opening period and led 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.

St. Thomas added to its lead 91 seconds after the first intermission and closed out the scoring at 9:22 in the second period.

The Foresters were out-shot 36-17 on the night but by just one (9-8) in the final period.

Lake Forest junior goaltender Jacque Rogers made 33 saves on the evening, including 15 in the second period.

The same two teams will face off again at St. Thomas Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
