Forester Head Women's Hockey Coach Carisa Wahlig announced on Friday that she would be leaving the College to accept the same position at NCAA Division I Brown University.

Wahlig has been Lake Forest's head coach for the last 13 seasons and has compiled a 201-109-39 overall record and 135-65-32 mark in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play during that time. The Foresters captured conference championships in 2010 and 2014 and claimed back-to-back NCHA Slaats Cup Playoff titles and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2014 and 2015. Wahlig was named NCHA Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2013.

Under Wahlig's direction, nine different players have been named All-American a total of 17 times. Twenty-nine Foresters have earned a combined 53 All-NCHA honors and four NCHA Player of the Year awards in her 13 years as head coach. In addition, 11 Lake Forest rookies have been listed in the seven-year history of the NCHA All-Freshman Team. With the exception of saves and saves per game, every current program record was set during Wahlig's tenure.

"I am very excited to continue my coaching career at Brown University and am looking forward to navigating the challenges and successes ahead there," stated Wahlig. "I would also like to thank Director of Athletics Jackie Slaats for taking a chance and hiring me back in 2005 to take over the program here at Lake Forest. I have met such wonderful people within and involved with the College and have also had the privilege of coaching really great student-athletes, many of who have become close friends."

"I am very happy for Carisa and her family as she moves on to the next phase of her career," began Slaats. "She has been a tremendous coach and mentor to the young women in the program and I have no doubt she will be successful at Brown as well. While I am sad to see her leave, the program she built here is extremely strong and I continue to be excited about its future."

The search for Wahlig's replacement will begin immediately.
