Spellmire Earns Third NCHA Offensive Player of the Week Award this Year

Lake Forest College women's hockey player Olivia Spellmire was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in a pair of victories over visiting College of St. Scholastica last weekend.

Spellmire, a senior forward, scored two goals, including one on the power play, in Friday's 5-0 triumph. It was her fourth multi-goal game of the season and ninth in her career.

Lake Forest defeated the Saints 4-1 on Saturday with Spellmire assisting on the first goal before lighting the lamp for the game-winner to break a 1-1 tie in her Senior Day game. It marked the 22nd time in her career she recorded at least one goal and assist in the same game.

Spellmire leads the NCHA with 41 points and is tied-for-sixth in the nation in points per game. She is just the second player in program history with multiple 40-point seasons.

NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of public relations and sports information. Spellmire also earned the award twice earlier this year and once as a sophomore.
