Freshman forward Megan Lyke scored to give the visitors the lead late in the second period but the Lake Forest College women's hockey team eventually fell 4-2 Friday night at Adrian College, the fourth-ranked team in the country.

Lyke's ninth goal of the year broke a 1-1 tie and came with just 23.2 seconds on the clock. She leads all Northern Collegiate Hockey Association freshmen in goals and points (17).

Lake Forest also led by one after the opening period thanks to the league-high-tying 14th score of the season by junior forward Amy Budde. Budde was assisted by sophomore forwards Lexi Morgan and Maddie Davis on the visitors' second shot on goal of the night just 68 seconds into the contest.

Adrian tied the score for the first time at the 4:29 mark of the second period and the Bulldogs knotted the game at two exactly two minutes into the third. The official game-winning goal was scored at the 5:15 mark of the final period and the home team tacked on an insurance goal with just 1:43 on the clock.

After being outshot 13-3 in the game's first 20 minutes, the Foresters put 15 shots on goal to the Bulldogs' 13 in the second period. Adrian had an 11-3 advantage in that category in the third and a 39-22 edge on the evening.

Lake Forest is now 9-7-0 overall this season and 7-2-0 in NCHA play. Adrian improved to 10-5-1 overall and moved past the Foresters into first place in the standings at 8-1-1 in the league.
